About Armor Roofing
Shawn Obermann, the owner of Armor Roofing, was born in Kansas City and raised on a dairy farm in Mt. Vernon. He attended Mt. Vernon High School, then studied business at Missouri Southern University in Joplin and the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Shawn has eleven children; the youngest is thirteen and a middle school track star.
From a Silicon Valley Summer to a Kansas City Roofing Company
Shawn’s roofing career started during scorching summers in California’s Silicon Valley, working for his cousin’s roofing company. He was obsessed enough to walk a seven-story building without a harness, something he is quick to admit he would never do today. Roofing was in his blood.
When he came home, he found large roofing companies leaning on marketing gimmicks and delivering low-quality work. He knew those companies could still make money while giving customers something better. That conviction became Armor Roofing in 1989.
